Introducing the Joe Slattery. 8oz burger house recipe honey bbq, applewood smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese topped with crispy hand cut sweet potatoes, topped with HouseMade Spinach roasted garlic aioli.

Joe passed away 7 years ago Saturday at age 91. He lived in Havertown during his later years. Either during the blizzard of 93 or 96 his car got caught in a snow drift at Manoa Rd and West Chester Pike. The Tavern was not lacking for patrons that day and many went out to help Joe get the car out and to a safe location. He had never been in but insisted on coming in and buying drinks for those who helped. Hilarity ensued and by end of day Joe had a new set of friends and new local hangout.

Over time he became close with some younger regulars and it was learned that Joe had served in WWII, had owned a bar in Point Breeeze and done many other interesting things. Many people from Manoa, Tips, Super Fresh became part of his extended family.

He often used the phrase Ta Vichy Stoi which became to Manoa what Where’s the beef was to Wendy’s back in the day. Still not sure what that means or how to spell it but it apparently was something off color from Joe’s war time in Italy. Or it part of the vernacular from Point Breeze. Here’s to Joe and the moral of the story is if you are going to have to get caught in a snow drift in front of a Tavern is about the best place that can happen. #tavichystoi, #slatts
