Introducing the Mary Tunstall. Lamb Caprese sliders. Ground Lamb patties with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil drizzled in balsamic and topped with housemade pistachio pesto.
The theme for the week are the strong women of Manoa’s past. The women of the neighborhood were what made it into a community. Do it all people who wore many hats. They essentially meshed together to raise an entire neighborhood.
Mary was a mother to her contingent but also was a force in local politics and representing the neighborhood. She was a go to when things needed to be done. Kids and grandkids and great grandkids still local and living in her large legacy.
Fun fact about Manoa. As people moved in most of the folks were of Irish or Italian descent and many first or second generation. Back in the day if you wandered the neighborhood during Easter week as mischievous children out on break you would occasionally hear some out of place sounds coming from a backyard. Sure enough there would be a live lamb or two tied to clothes poles. This lamb isn’t that fresh but it does come from our friends from colonial up in the shopping center. #womenofmanoa #maryhadalittlelamb
